any plumbers or HVAC folks,
I am going to replace my gas water heater soon, last time I did this I just tossed a new one in and fired it up, the flame looked good and I never gave it a second thought. my question is do you put a manometer on it or an exhaust gas analyzer on it and adjust the gas pressure? is this even a thing? I know when I installed a gas fired water heater for the hydronic heat I had the shop I bought it from check over my installation and work and adjust it. but I don't know if a domestic hot water heater even has provisions for adjustment. I am at about 4700' altitude if it matters.

Pretty sure they don't. If you look at the on/off/pilot that's the controller, and they are all sealed. I don't think they are adjustable.

What are you trying to accomplish?

that's what i was thinking, just wanted a second D-web opinion.
I just want to make sure its operating correctly adjusted once its installed. there was actually quite a bit of adjustment made on my hydronic boiler and I wasn't sure if the same thing is necessary or common on domestic hot water.

Prior to purchase download & read the install manual. If to complex find a simple one and adjust per simple manual. Watch out for the gas leaks.
