Gear oil on outside of rim

Hi,

So I set swivel pin preload on both front wheels a little while ago, afterwards I refilled the swivel's with gear oil. I've noticed now after driving that I get streaks of gear oil on the outside of the Rims, not on the inside or on the rotors, but only on the outside of the rim. Any ideas as to what I might have left loose or what might be wrong? Thanks!

are you talking about on the driveshaft? it's not coming from there, that area is clean, it's only on the side of the RIM that is facing out, I think it's coming from the swivel ball, but I can't figure out where or what I've left loose.

No, he's talking about the drive member flanges. They're sort of star shaped and have 5 bolts. It's what the rubber cap attaches to on the front axles.

They have a paper gasket behind them. I just put a very small amount of grease on the flange and hub and put the paper in between. Right stuff gasket maker is the shit but I wouldn't advise it in that application bc you will have a hell of a time removing it in the future.

It was the flange that was leaking... I already sealed it with gasket maker, pretty much everything in there has already been replaced so it should be a while before I need to remove it, thanks for the help guys!
