Paid off my LR3 last month. Have owned her for almost 5 years and never had an issue. First month with no car payment and the thermostat and bleeder valve go.... such is life.

Good times!!!

Same with the wife's Rav4, but worse. First payment free month and the transmission dies, totaling the car. Back to payments..

Never, never brag about paying off a car while standing, sitting or being anywhere near it. That vehicle no matter what make will bite you. 52 yrs. experience in cars and I'm telling you they bite. Same with talking about trading or selling it.

And, that, gentlemen is why I ONLY buy cars on the one payment plan. Preferably not mobil at the time of purchase. It's hard to be disappointed in a car that cost $400. I look at it in reverse kind of, 1) cars don't run for free. 2) unless it is about undoable I fix the junk I have, 3) "value" of the car matters zero to me unless I am fixing it to sell it, the value is it's utility. With that said, I wouldn't buy a RAV4 on a bet. Have a great day! seriously, not trying to be sarcastic

I too like to buy "beaters", but I also commute 100 miles a day and need something reliable...hence the "newer" vehicle. Anyway....all is well.
