My 1996 D1 is no more... I was making an trip to New Mexico for a family emergency when it stopped due to fuel pump failure in Santa Rosa NM last tues... Since I have Good Sam towing it was towed to Land Rover in Albuquerque for repairs. The good people opened up at 8pm for the tow truck. Wed we finished troubleshooting and decided the problem was rust, and a fuel pump failure. There is also a recall on the fuel tank. But due to the short time I could stay parts might be a problem. I evaluated the D1 as follows, 187k miles, Rear seal leaks, some loss of compression, uses some oil, seats worn out, ready for tires, needs windshield, brakes leak down. I traded it for a 2002 d2 with 43k that probably never left Albuquerque. The people at Land Rover of Albuquerque were super, I wish my local dealer was as interested in my problems as these people were. LRNA could use there customer relations as a model for the rest of the dealers I have delt with.
Just my 2 cents worth
