Verdict: wife said "if you are going to have a car in the shop that much, it better be something you want to spend the money on, not a car that you settled for because it was a good buy."
I think the LR3 was fantastic, I had a bunch of little things that kept creeping up and I did not love that truck.
The BMW RR is what I wanted. I can work on it much easier than the Jag engine. The earlier drip was hopeful. That was water (not coolant). Has not done any marking since.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire is right, Rob, but I am willing to get burned on this one. I almost lost my faith with the LR3. I love the finish and drivability of the RR. It does not compare. I can at least service this at my favorite independent and source cheaper parts than the LR3. I am content with the probability that it will give me problems, but the LR3 was always a stressor with the wife: "that thing is in the shop again?" That never happened with the D2 even though I was always working on it. How many people can say their wife supports a switch from a LR3 to a RR?
Tire options suck for the 19" rims, but I will work on getting some BFGs on the white beast soon enough.
