Im finnaly home and have started on the series. i went to start it and it rolled over but would not go. so i opened the bonnett and the clear fuel filter was dry..........no gas. so just to see if it would run i shot some starting fluid in the carb and got it going for about 2 seconds. so from there i did afew things...

1. checked to see if i was getting fuel to the carb.......lines were dry so no
2. pulled and cleaned the fuel bowl
3. checked the pick up tube in the tank(its been clogged before)
4. pumped the lever on the fuel pump to prime the system and nothing came into the bowl(had the gas cap off to prevent vapor lock and i tried it with the cap on with no gas going into the bowl)

so what gives? the fuel pump is less then a year old and it has been sitting for afew months....sence jan mabye:banghead:

Have you taken apart the fuel pump and checked the diaphram and seals? They may have gotten a little dry even though it's only been a few months. That little diaphram may not be popping up and down to get the fuel pumping.

If you haven't already, blow through your fuel line going to the tank to make sure it isn't clogged. That is where I found my problem.

I could never get my mechanical pump to pull enough fuel to keep me running so I yanked it and installed an electric.

I have a spare fuel pump I could lend you if you want to bolt it on to check things out, or to run while you rebuild yours. let me know.

You may have a clogged fuel pick up tube ,not allowing the fuel out of the tank, theres a small screen that gets clogged . you'll have to remove it from the tank, you'll probably wreck the gasket.
next look hard at the diaphram as previously mentioned. when you prime the pump you ought to feel some resistance if the diaphram is good. taks off the pump plug the inlet outlet with your fingers, if you feel some suction the diaphram is Ok.
