I usually go the dick route in as polite and humble a way as I can muster while mentioning that lots of people have that confusion and it's Land Rover's fault due to their exit from the US in the 70s/80s (confuse the issue and try to give them a face-saving out). It's not my fault they're ignorant, but I can try to help change that in some small manner.

Though this case is a bit different since there aren't too many 110 pickups running around the US or photographed for pages of Four Wheeler!

People are dumb.

But at least friendly and dumb. I get people coming up to talk to me everyday I drive it, ALL positive. I've even got a few incredible stories out of strangers. An old lady in CT running an ancient mom and pop gas station that went into the story of how she had a couple of Series trucks until ones frame actually broke in two and was being held together by the body. Another older woman who got teary eyed standing in the rain while I aired up outside a gas station/convinience store telling me about her late husband plowing the drive and collecting Christmas trees with one and how much he loved that old truck. Just a couple of days ago a guy recalling his friend, a local optometrist and volunteer aid worker killed by the Taliban in 'stan, and how his group bought 5 110's and drove them from the UK to Afghanistan. Frankly I love it, it makes people open up like they were old friends when most people go about their day treating everyone like door to door encyclopedia salesman.

:applause:

This is how old bikers would get when they would see my old XS11. I could be pulled up next to the saltiest old bastard you ever met, and he'd take a look at that Maroon Baboon and get this twinkle in his eye, like "oh man, I remember those...".

The Lou!
I always get the "nice jeep" or the "what is that thing" or "where'd you get that". I can't wait to get mine back on the road but it's been too damn rainy and cold to put the driveshaft and exhaust back on. Brrrrrr

i get the jeep/land cruiser/toyota thing a lot and that even in my RRC. What drives me nuts is even when talking to a customer (actual rover owners) they dont understand that land rover, range rover, and discovery is all the same company. It night like they have a huge product line to get confused about.

Yeah, but they did make the mistake of writing "Range Rover" on the hood of rangies, and "Land Rover" on the hood of everything else... LR is a great example of how NOT to brand your company.

I'm pissed they never sent that Gladiator concept into production.

I am surprised ANYTHING ever comes out from Chrysler. Their biggest hit was the 93 Ram, and they've squandered all the advantage they had.
Don't worry, whoever makes Icon will make a Gladiator for you, for a hundred grand or so.

M715s are pretty cool trucks. I always wanted one, but to make one street-driveable takes as much time and garage space as it takes to do a TDI swap on a Rover.
