Les Paul is definitely a great one, he's responcible for one of the greatest guitars that has ever been put into production, not to mention I'm a proud owner of one myself. A Gibson not that Epiphone mexican crap. :D

True enough for the later models Ep's, but have early 60's Epiphone Wilshire that's sweet-a-plenty to finger on.

Not much well known prehaps in these times

Jerry Reed a "Certified Guitar Player", as per Chet Atkins

I've heard a lot of " who is the greatest guitar player" discussions before. There are so many great guitar players that play different kinds of music. It all depends on personal taste.

Hendrix should always be included (ahead of his time)

Gary Moore amazing (played with Thin Lizzy, then solo) hard rock and blues player

Randy Rhoads (just imagine how great he would be if he was still alive).

Steve Vai, Andres Segovia, Al Di meola.

Check out the chick called The Great Kat (Juliard graduate violin virtuoso and guitar shredder) she is also kind of hot in a bizzare way.

Who's the greatest?
Eric Clapton
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Jimi Hendrex
Joe Satriani
Carlos Santana

What are some great songs with wicked guitar solos? Videos are even better.
That's a tough call man. Personally I think Clapton is God on the classic guitar. I think BB King is the man for blues. I think SRV has a pretty awesome sound, great around campfires. Jimi and Satch, eh...not so much...overrated. Santana has a beautiful sound coming from his guitar. So I dunno.
My vote is for Clapton though.

Ive met him and seen him play many times. It looks effortless when he's ripping... he was considerd to be a prodigy at a young age.

The dude is mellow as hell too. So laid back. and his wife? Susan Tedeschi? She's got a voice on her... lord. Sexy.

Steve Young once played in a band called Steve Young and the MARshalls.

This is the night as I remember it.....

One night he got drunk on one to many Sunny D's and decided to take the stage of a vendor and play, of course his band was no where to be found, but like the trooper he is, the show had to go on.

Steve didn't have is one of kind Steve Young edition Steve Young Guitar, he had left it in his great-big-garage-of everything. However, the adversity, he made due with a guitar made out of a RTE front radius arm and a set of strings made from a wiring harness. His amp was heater core than he had added a sound board to, simply amazing. Even MacGyver would have been envious.

That bastard played and played, the entire place was going crazy. I have no idea how many people where there could have been hundreds or millions. He must have played somewhere between 30 and 86 entire songs with full vocals, both lead and back-up, mind you. Fans would just call out songs and he would play them. The guy did everything from "Roll out the Barrels", to "Thriller", to "I'm to Sexy", but I must say his 38 minute guitar solo was the highlight of the night. He played with such intensity and furor that the sky thundered and lighting struck letting the fans know even God himself approved of this show. It was life changing.

Unfortunately, the concert of a lifetime came to an end when a terrible accident happened on the busiest interstate in Maine. A black government helicopter just landed in the nearby field and Steve knew he had to go. He apologized for starting a concert while being on call with the Maine Highway Patrol, and said he be back as soon as his work was done. Tears were shed as he boarded the chopper, then he ordered the pilot to ride shotgun, and he flew that big bird right outta there.

Damn......good times. Steve never sang or played guitar again, but if he does you know I'll find a way there.
