Ground Strap? 2002 Discovery -Front of engine

From rear of drivers head to the firewall. yes looks broken and you can get generic ones at any part store.

Thank you. This is not the strap. That strap is there and is considerably smaller. (Driver's side - head to firewall). This was found in the front of the engine.

Then it does not belong on that engine. I just did a post on my company IG account showing how aluminum oxide corrosion can cause loss of ground. You can test for it with a dvom or test light. Might have been someones fix to a problem. Clean corrosion off every bolt you remove. I wire wheel every bolt we take off before reinstalling.
I only know of the rear LH head strap special ed mentioned. You sure he didn't pull this off the hood?
In any case, to ed's point, I always either replace the head strap with a thick battery ground cable or install such a cable in addition to the strap. Due to corrosion or decades of vibration, I've had grounding issues with the factory strap.

Does your battery ground cable go from the battery to the the body next to the battery and then continue to the alternator bracket on the front of the engine?
