From where I got it (rocketcityforums.com): "It happens to be a mattress that a guy ran over. Only he did not just run over it, he kept driving. For 30 more miles. As a matter of fact, he only stopped because he ran out of fuel when the furiously rotating jumble of steel tore a hole in his fuel tank.

When the service department asked him what was wrong, he told them that he felt a "shudder at high speeds"."

Geez........how the hell could you not notice you ran over a damn mattress!?! My friend's teenage son ran over a piece of carpet and didn't bother to pull it out and the carpet unwound around the axle.....wasn't pretty.

A while ago, on the news here that a car was dragging a mattress under that underbody an was caught on fire because of the heat of the exhaust.

If you blindfolded 95% of drivers, walked them under their car on a lift, and took the blindfold off, they would not recognize their own car.
