I have a '95 Discovery with the 3.9L. I have done several preliminary things to see if I can fix my starting issue. It's really weird. The rover starts very good when the engine is just turned off and even starts good after it's been off for 10-15 minutes. But if the engine sets for 30 minutes or longer it is very hard to start. It also seems to start fairly decent in the mornings after sitting ALL night long. I think the most important sympton is that when it starts......it seems as if the exhaust smells really rich. Almost like it was flooded.
I have changed spark plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor. If someone has had this problem before the PLEASE share your experience as I am lost. When I say slow to start.....the starter turnsover for about 4 seconds. When it's HOT....it start immediately.
