Harmonic Balancer broke ?

About a year ago the Harmonic balancer on my Disco I broke right where it enters the front engine seal.
Freak accident, right?
Well it happened AGAIN !!!

I have to go to the junk yard and scarf-up another one.

Is this a common thing? I have never heard of a HB breaking.

Not common, but not unheard of. I have also seen at least one case when the original balancer failed in combination with damage to the crankshaft, leading to the balancer failing again. Is it possible that your crank pulley is damaged or unbalanced?

3.9 or 4.0?

It is a 4.0.
If there is damage to the Crankshaft, is there an easy fix?
I have a space crankshaft but I really, really don't want to take the engine out again.
THAT is a real pain !!!! LOL
