My 95 d1 was hit mildly on the front passenger side and the headlight and turn signal were broken. Now the hazard lights are on constantly. Anyone know why?

Inertia switch.

If the inertia switch was tripped, the fuel pump won't run, hence, no start. Does the vehicle start or run? If not, the inertia switch is about the size and shape of a 35 mm film can with with a reset button on the top.

I had similar symptoms after hitting a big pothole. Pissed me off no end, cause I've had hundreds of harder impacts, but the '96 just wanted to trifle with me that day. Rovers are like that.... It would run but the damned hazard lights couldn't be shut off. Now there is a specific procedure in the manual for setting things right, one that involves repeated sequences of opening the door, turning the key, standing on one leg & whistling, sacrificing a chicken whatever; I forget. But the way I cured whatever ailed the vehicle was to pull the offending relay in the passenger footwell behind the glove box. Feel for the one going psychotic.... Pull it. Reinstall. Done.

Cheers

You can always tell a good day of wheeling because your hazards will be set off. I've have it happen numerous times. Turn key off. Restart truck. Done.

Your truck is just showing off.

Thanks all. More than one right answer. Truck was running so Not IS. Since the haz lights stayed on, I unhooked the battery each time I shut it off. When I hooked the battery up they came on again. The first time I shut the truck off And restarted it without unhooking the battery, which happened to be just after posting this, the lights stopped flashing. And yes, the truck was probably showing off.

my truck used to do that all the time when on the trail, it had an issue with hot restart though so i would just leave them on until we were ready to leave the trail, my truck would often be severely crippled by then so sometimes they got left on for the flat tow home :p

there's a secondary inertia switch in the alarm. first time i tripped it in the dunes at Pismo i was like wtf, i didnt even realize the hazards were on until someone told me. Cycled the truck of/on after turning the actual hazard switch off and on. Fixed it and was on my way.. Next day, same scenario., came over a dune a bit too brisk and hazards went off..

Anyhow, remove your alarm module and give it a little love tap, i'm betting the internal inertia switch is stuck in the tripped position.
