Anybody know a site that sells Heavy duty track and steering rods. want to upgrade and can't seem to find any place that sells them. I see them on some sites as custom work but no price listed or if they will do the work for anyone. Thinking of buying the chromoly shafts and having threads machined on the ends and swithing to hemi joints. need some imput. :)

I would think twice about the Heims. They don't give any more benefit and tend to be a little noisy after a while. If you are in an area that throws salt in the winter, I would reconsider.

Go with the Rovertym steering links. For the price that they offer, it's not worth having them built yourself.

I've gone with "Dodge 600" series ball joints that are used on the old 44 seat school buses...they will need their housing to be boared out somewhat, but at 2$ more per ball joint and at more than 2 times the size, they have never failed me even with the 37s.

Also, the rod came free with them :) which is a plus since it is 36mm in diameter and 6mm thick in total

What housing are you talking about? Where the taper goes?

You can get the reamer at the circle track shops... 1.5" per foot I think.. You can use the Dodge version or a GM version (smaller than the Dodge but still huge compared to a Rover joint... Ream the tapered holes where the tie rod end goes in on the knuckles and the Pitman arm and you are all set...
Rovertracks Offers this conversion.. You buy the reamer and Share it with your friends..

I know you're all about the boyish figure of that straight rod action but curves are sexy to me, what can I say?

That thing reminds me of a cartoon when one character hits another character over the head with a stright rod. The force conforms it to the super tunes skull....

I've been happy with the RTE 1.25" stainless track and cross rods. I figure I deserve the stress if I ever manage to bend those. Also, the genuine rod ends are plenty beefy and are probably still the fusible link. Do not buy the aftermarket "allmakes" "britpart" rod ends as they are lightweight "nyloc nut" crap.

My 2 cents-
