I have a set of Hedman Hedders to go in my 4.0 GEMS D1. I've heard something about engine mount spacers? Is there any sort of clearance issues I should be aware of before I go pulling the old crap out? The headers connect to a custom Y pipe and exhaust FWIW.

Interesting. These came off a '98 D1 and there isn't any "customizing" on the pipes. Guess I'll shoot the seller an email and ask if he had any issues.
Also, I am running the Jag V12 motor mounts which does put the engine a touch higher than stock.

I had the same headers on my Classic and the only problem I had was them hitting the frame rails at the collectors. I will be putting them in my '03 DII in a couple weeks. I don't see why you would have any issues if they came out of another truck. Toughest part is getting to some of the bolts towards the back unless the motor is out of the truck.

Did you have to mod anything, or did they just touch the framerails and everything still fit ok?

I had the engine out with the headers installed and when we dropped it in we noticed the interference. We pulled it back out and put a ratchet strap across the collectors and pulled them together. I would imagine that if they had already been in a truck they should fit in yours unless the previous owner didn't have the same issue.

Mason, I agree with you about the collectors on the Headman, mine are the ball and socket type. I had to constantly tighten them up until I picked up some top lock nuts and never had and issues again.

Any one have the part # for the headers. My 03 DII had a bad exhaust leak where the cats bolt to the manifolds. Got under to see about fixing it and fund both sides have 1 broken stud. So because I have to pull the manifolds any way may as well toss on some headers.

I used Headman Hedders part #39800 on my D1 4.6 swap. For me it was the steering column linkage that got in the way and required some bending of the tube. That and I had to switch to the flat D2 style knock sensor on the driver's side to get the connector proper clearance.

Got the headers and exhaust it in, including the muffler. Just have to tighten everything down.
I broke off the knock sensor on the driver side though. Looks like I can replace with a D2 flat style. What effect will running the truck without that sensor have for a few days?

If the disco is like any other car it will run like shit. The ecu will freak out when it does not see the knock sensor and will kill timming to save the motor.
