My 04 Disco ll is losing it's headliner. Just got a quote from a shop here in San Diego for...wait for it....$500...holy crap! I did see a fair amount of info here about guys replacing and painting but that thread deteriorated into a pissing match about hack jobs or whatever.

Has anyone used this product for a do it yourself install?....http://www.headlinerexpress.com/19942004-discovery-i-ii-headliner-material-p-748.html

Any other install advice? Thanks

Find a good fabric shop. They usually have headliner material for sale by the foot. Its a lot cheaper.

Yeah I'm kinda nervous about doing it myself....that's why I asked about that shop that sells the kit. Maybe I need to make a trip to Tijuana:cool:

I know Bill from Headliner express personally and he is a very knowledgable and good guy. He will tell you anything and everything about how to do the job yourself... seriously, he will talk your face off. ( hope you are reading this William). best thing about buying his kit is he will walk you throught all the steps in order to help you get the job done if you are feeling nervous about the final look.

Good guy and stands firmly behind his products. Tell him Cosmo sent you.

I've yet to find a fabric store that carries headliner material in anything other than 54", and that's just not wide enough for the back of a Disco. You need 64"

You can also try Jim's Auto Upholstery in Kearny Mesa.
I don't think I could save money or time on DIY vs. $290 for a headliner job.

Thanks pm I did get a quote of $350 from Jim's. Sounds like he's done a few Disco's. And you're right about the price vs hassle....but there's something about getting your hands dirty....and blood pressure up:banghead:

My '04 is getting to the point it needs one too...but I just can't get myself to spend the $...I'm just reaching 100k miles and I just have this nagging feeling my motor is going to blow-up again as soon as I drop the $350...In the meantime, the $5 headliner pins look fabulous.
