I have wrapped the headers and my exhaust all the way back to the end of the pipe and it definitly cooled things down and brought the noise levels down also. The only probelm with wrapping them is rust, it will speed it up 10x. I just pulled all of the exhaust out of my truck and it looked liked my truck was from NE and I drove it on the beach at high tide every day.

I wrapped mine but I painted the shit out of them with some high temp header paint before putting them in. Heat goes way down vs unwrapped.

On D90 3.9 engine with supercharger plus borla exhaust. Will's 4.6 engine is perfect but the timing is bad.

This is me being lazy. But does anyone know the thread pitch and diameter of the bolts that go from the manifold to the head.
3/8-16 works fine, get the 1 1/2" length header bolts with the 3/8" head. There are 3-4 bolts on either side are a serious pain.

Proper ceramic coatings are the way to go. If you are going through the bother of buying headers, converting your system and installing it all, you may as well do it properly.

Ceramic inside and out. Real, durable, coated ceramic, not shit out of a can or generic nonsense applied just anywhere. If it's not fit for abuse, it's the wrong answer for a vehicle used as Rovers are. You should be able to wear out abrasives on the finish coat.

Wrap is largely a waste. It severely encourages rust, traps common and even dangerous contaminants, makes diagnosing problems a pain and makes fixing those problems nearly impossible. It is also difficult to apply properly, and when it's not applied properly all those issues become even worse.

For some applications, wrap is a good idea. For applications like this, however, it's pointless.

You can forget about heat. That's an ancillary benefit, and only one reason to go through the headache of having things coated. It's a rust preventative that also helps lower engine bay temperatures. It does two things, and both are important.

Cheers,

Kennith

ceramic coat for sure.

pm greg davis, he ceramic coated and wrapped his,

mine are cermic and i dont know if i will wrap them or not though, i might make a heat shield as i always thought wrap increased rusting.
