Hi all,

My drivers side heated seat stopped working a while back. Thought for sure it was a blown element but my local service guy seems to think if the light in the button stays lit it is something else. Is this the case? If I had a blown element would the light in the button turn off when activated? Mine seems to stay lit, just no heat.

Thanks.

Mine does the same thing.I was told it's the element. I think the reason the light is on is it has power to it. If no power,no light

My element stopped working a few years back. Light will stay on the switch in any case.
Check continuity at the element. Then you will know.
I bought my D2 used and the first owner really creased the seat cushion when he/she slid in and out of the truck. The element wire split itself. I repaced the entire seat bottom with a passenger seat I had.

You can buy the element online and replace it, it just requires removing the cover. About $60 for a new element. They can be ordered from the dealer parts dept too, about the same as mail order once you add in shipping.

You can also repair the element, a simple solder job, though may or may not take some detective work to find the break in the wire. Takes soldering iron and ohm meter.

I had a pin in the connector foul for some reason which created a hot spot, IE: greater resistance which reduced the effect of the element.

The hog rings are the biggest PITA about it. That either takes patience to open them, save them, and reuse them, or forethought enough to just cut them off and replace with new ones on re installation of cover.

I should know this, but refresh my memory, is there a second heating element for your back? I would assume if there is it would be wired in series with the lower element.
