Heated Seats

I have a 97 SE D1. I pulled off the plate around the window switches on the console. I found plugs for what look like heated seat option. Does anyone know if all 97s came with heated seats?

Thanks

Well, I hate to say it but I did (always the first thing that I do before asking). Read through most of them. Nothing definitive. Was asking to see if there had been any confirmation lately.

I have determined that my Disco does not have the heaters. 2004 S.

But I have also found out that there are a number of the seats that are equipped with the heateres. The easiest thing to do is to order the switches and the palte from Rovers North, install them all, turn them on and see if your seats heat up. If not return all the parts. $12 on the plate, $24.50 on the Right switch and $24.75 on the drivers. Yes, there are two different switches, because they have different plugs on them. Be sure you dont get two of the same side. Rovers North has them on the web page for shopping, call in and palce the order - the guys are super nice and will help you out no problem.

Installing the seat heater elements in that 04 isn't hard if you want to actually have 'em work. :)
The elements are NOT in the S or S7 model seats unless you have the cold weather package. If you have any other trim level Disco (except G4, which has S seats but I think includes the cold weather package by deault), you have the elements regardless of whether the switches are there. I'm installing my elements later this week since I'm addicted to them in my wife's truck which has the cold wx package. I'll let ya know how long it takes....

That statement makes it sound like my 2001 SD w/ Duragrain seats would have them.. I have yet to check since I didn't think any duragrains would have them.. Hmmph.

no- any trim level below SE doesn't have them. The Duragrain seats were not equipped unless ordered with the cold wx package. If your LE has the leather seats, 90% chance you have the elements.

I don't think Dura-grains have elements.

Don't forget, Olered has a DI, so the DII advice is a bit of a hijack. :D ...

But to continue the hijack, wouldn't you need to install the switches and trim and then have testbook activate the circuit, ala Fog Lights?

You may just want to remove the plate to see if you have the ends of the wiring that would plug into the switches. Takes about 30 seconds. If you have the wiring that would obviously plug into the switches, then you should have the elements also.

Easy.

Worked like a champ on my 99 DiscoII!

My 1996 SD packs the heat. The window switch board has the button holes and I took the seat out and found the wires. Now if LR put in the wires to the seat and element and then to the console. Dont you think the heat elements would be there too. I know they are there I just haven't had the chance to buy the switches or the plastic plate. It would make no sense to not include the heat element in the seat. Anyway, LR just makes them with the element in most cases if people want to upgrade through LR it will cost them! If only half those tards knew it was a 60 dollar upgrade. Sort of like how the 95 D1 has no upper signal light unless you upgrade through them, costing a couple hundred no doubt. If only they knew the bulb & housing costs them a mere 20 dollars aftermarket now. Buy the switches, I bet your model has the heat...

Why would a wire be connected into my upper seat back and then to my console if there was no element? That makes no sense. Why would the console have connections to the heater at all? Wouldn't LR think not to waste the millions of extra parts they put in our duragrain seats and consoles if they could. Wouldn't none of the parts be there...? Seriously, I am going to end the mystery once and fo all. I'll buy that crap and figure it out, otherwise you will find those parts on ebay....

There are wires on the seat frame, into which the seat heater elements plug. Many people mistake those wires for the heater elements. If you have duragrain, you need the elements. No programming is necessary- just install the switches, install the elements (if necessary) and off you go with warm buns.

Mine were there!

When I found the heater plugs in the console I did an ohmmeter check and there was resistance. This meant heat elements were there. Bought two LR switches and a new cover plate for about $60. Installation took about 5 minutes, Buns are now warm... back too!
