If your 04 has leather seats then the heat elements are in there including all the wiring. All you need are the switches that you can by from someone on here that is parting or online from a LR source. You will need the two switches and the new face plate that has the additional cut-outs. Just remove the currnet face plate uncover the wiring behind the plate you will find the connectors...snap them in an you've got heat! Simple as 1-2-3.

Not "quite" that easy!!!......

The heated seats are enabled / controlled by the BCU (body control unit) and if you car came without them from the factory, that option will be turned OFF.....So you will need to visit a Rover Dealer / independant to have them enabled in the BCU, otherwise they just won't do squat...

I installed the kit and did not have to visit the dealer. Was plug and play and took less then 5 minutes. Everything worked fine.

Interesting to hear from those that did not have to have the option in the BCU enabled........It "may" be a NAS spec thing, but I do find it strange that it would be set to "on" if no heated seats are fitted from the factory.

I ordered the parts for my '04 SE7, installed them (very easy) and the heated seats worked without any re-programming.

Don't all of the 2004 Discos have leather seats? I just picked one up, and it has no heated seat switches, I would like to think that just adding the switches and center panel will keep my ass warm this winter. Do some '04's have cloth seats?

no, the faux leather duragrain stuff that 99% of people think is leather.... no arm rests are the tell tail.

wait, so having armrests means you have leather, right?

Correctomundo.

There are some duragrain cars with heated seats though, but they have the cold weather deal that has heated windscreen ect... IIRC. (i have seen heated seats though, just don remember the package...)

I think the S models had duragrain so no heated seats. SE and HSE had leather standard. I installed the switches and voila...heated seats. My G4 has the vinyl and no heating elements.

correct, S model is duragrain. The G4 is essentially an S model.

SE and HSE have leather/armrests and heating elements.

Heating elements are in S models only if there was a cold weather package from factory.

I have heard pulling the seat material to install an element is a complete bastard of a time.

I almost burnt my ass on my D2. Unplugged that switch. What a joke.
No I'm no fat ass. Not planning on fixing unless maybe I drive the Rover for 6 months without major repairs. Unlikely
