I tried to get in to my Discovery today, and I can't. The radio control and manual key switch won't work.
I thought my battery may have died, so I crawled under, and measured 12.36 V at the starter. I was going to charge it from the starter cable.

To top it off, all my metric tools are locked inside. :banghead:

Any ideas on how to get in without breaking a window?
Thanks,
Steve

It was superlocked. I just noticed that I can arm/ disarm the alarm, just the locks are not working.
I will see if I can fit a hanger in.
Thanks,
Steve

How does the truck get superlocked?

By hitting the lock button twice.

Is there anyway of preventing this from happening?

- Don't hit the lock button twice
- Use Rovacom or similar to program the BECM to not superlock
- Physically remove the superlock motors from the locking assembly (they are the same as the regular lock motors and can be used to repair weak or broken regular lock motors)

I went to Harbor frieght to buy some fish tape to try and use it like a coat hanger to open the door.
When I got home, the locks worked!!! The only thing I can think is that something got wet. We got an inch of rain this morning, and my windshield leaks. Will investigate.
Thanks,
Steve

Opened the hood. Rats moved in. I hate rats, a few days without driving, and packrats move in. I dont know if they caused my problem, but now I have to inspect wireing. Off to the store to buy lots of rat poison!!!

I found water under the pasenger side dash, above the foot area. Looks like I should look into getting my windshield sealed.

Sweet fuck. I have a feeling that you're in for a nightmare if they worked over the wires.

Good luck, and I mean that sincerely.

If they did, just take it to a high crime area and leave the doors unlocked and key in the ignition......

So far it looks like the wires are ok, they are in the plastic conduit. I don't think they had enough time. Now there is a trap under the engine, on the plastic cover, and poison bait under the air filter box.
Pack rats are the worst thing about living in a natural desert enviorment. There are also the mountain lions, bob cats, coyotes, snakes, scorpions, ect. My wife did not like it when a Bob cat killed her chickens. If they would eat the rats, all would be good.

I think the rain water leaking in through the windshield caused the problem. I will look in to getting it sealed next week.
