Help idle issue

My LR3 has surging idle at start up, and when coming to a stop during the down shift from second to first the truck wants to stall. Also, recently the truck told me that it was experiencing "reduced engine performance.". From the seat of my pants I could tell a difference in performance. I think the problem is some kind of sensor, but I would really like some free advice since I no longer have a warantee.

Thanks.

It would be best to hook up the car to diagnostics to get the DTC that causes the Reduced Engine Performance fault to pop up (doesn't have to be a dealer, if you have a good independent LR mechanic properly equipped nearby.) My first suspect would be a dirty or defective MAF sensor, though.

Clean the throttle body, LR3's and Sports are really sensitive. It doesn't take much for them to stick and cause 'reduced engine performance', chances are there is no fault code.

clean the throttle, make sure the key is off when you open the throttle by hand. Get in there with a rag soaked in carb cleaner and get all that carbon buildup off the bore and the back of the throttle blade.
