O.K, So I did the rte 2" hd lift and ome shocks with pro comp xtreme m/t 265/75/16's. Now my truck is about 4" higher than stock. It looks awsome. I'm so happy with everything except the fact that my newly pregnant wife can barely get in now, never mind when she is 7 or 8 months pregnant. What can I do that won't compromise the look and functionality of my disco II, or break the bank while still helping my wife get in. Any suggs would be helpful. Also if side steps are my only option, then dose anyone have some used ones cheap?

you could make some little stairs out of wood and through under the open door every time she needs to get in. then just through it in the back... cheap and easy

I agree with Mich and Soakers. Look at the back of the owners manual it should have the Queen's logo on back. Tell Mommy-to-be the rig is good enough for Ferggie and family then treat her like a lil queen with the steps; life ought to be GOOD!

Might put some red carpet on the little steps while you are at it so she does not slip and fall.

If all else fails - on advice from my wife (which you can feel welcome to regard as a mistake for me to ask) lower the rig for a while.

That is some good advice guys, but one problem. She drives it now and then to so I need a more substantial fix. I don't mind a few hundred dollars but not $800 for factory side steps. How about rock sliders with nerf bars? Do you guys think they would still be to high?

OOPS!

SHE drives the rig? UMM we got to think this over again!

My bars can be tweeked down two or three inches below the door threshold but that makes the foot pads at an angle that she could slip from unless you could add some abrasive traction tape on it. That might be a good fix for you.

I would ask my wife but I already know what she would say.

people are selling those sidesteps all the time. you could probably pick up a set pretty cheap if you just watch the for sale section. then you could just take them off when she pops the lil' squirt out

You can have my side steps (off an '04) for $50 + shipping.

Only catch is, you'll need to buy the attachment hardware / mudflap kit for about $100, or find ONE front extension bolt because the body/frame bolt sheared off inside the extension.

You may be able to get the sheared bit out, but I wouldn't count on it.

My wifes Grandma lives with us, and she uses this step stool to get in. Folds flat, when she rides w/ us, I just throw it in the back.

I second this step stool. We use it to get my wifes father up into our rigs when needed.
He about 6'2" and 290lbs. He needs it because he's on oxygen 24/7 and has a bad ticker. Works great! Sliders or side steps would still be too high for him to use and I suspect too high for your wife too. Good luck.

Call Rovertym, and get the nerf model with the slider step option. Then get an SD rack for something to grab onto. Problem solved, everyone's happy.

Cheers,

I have HiCountry Offroad sliders on both my D1 and D2. Work great as side steps as they are a full 5" wide and still provide needed protection when wheeling. The wife and kids love them for getting in. Also great for getting stuff in the roof rack.
