Aight guys I need your experience! A few hours ago my drivers side window went down, popped and wont come up. It makes noise as it normally does. It just wont come up though. I am about to take off the inner pannel - What should I be looking for? Out of tracks or what?

The gear probably broke off your window regulator. It is only held together with three small spot welds. You can possibly weld it if you have an electric wrench. Replacements not too expensive either.

If you pull the panel off you can physically move the window up and tape it up. Use lots of tape as it is heavy and if the glass falls well . . .

BTW I was able to fix my regulator with a peice of a plumbing on one occasion and a windscreen wiper bushing on another. Both still work fine to this day. The little plastic wheel is what fails.

BTW new regulators are only about $75 or so.

Pull door panel. If it is the gear you should be able to push it up pretty easily. Get some tape and using several long pieces, tape the window in place. Nice long pieces, so that you have plenty of contact on both sides of the glass. Right over the top of the window frame. I used some paper to cover the paint to prevent damage from tape.

Same thing happened to me while it was snowing. I took the panel off and raised the window up, then used a Leatherman Crunch (vise grip ones...very nice) and pinched the "X" in the regulator together. It usually breaks at the spot welds. I tried welding mine, it didnt work. I recommend just getting a new one

Thanks Everyone!

Well, I got it up - it is working with no problem - it just needed a little help. The "X" is in good condition. When I let it go inside the door, it gets hung. Otherwise it works with out a problem. Its only when I roll it all the way down and then try to come back up with it. Seems like it is sliping out of gear or something - but if i ease it up then it works on its own fine. Anyone have this happen or know what causes it?

Same thing happened to me when I was in PA at a wedding. My gf rolled down her window and it was stuck. This was on the way from the hotel to the church  I quickly tore off the panel and raised it back up. Got some sealer on my tux in the process too!! The window would stay in the up position so I just drove home and let the dealer take care of it that Monday. Mine was under warranty.

You may also want to check your window ECU. They are known to fail and cause all sorts fo problems. This happened to me on the passengerside. I replaced the ECU and I have not had any problems. It is a fairly easy fix.
