is there any way to tell the original color from the VIN?

There should be a tag under the hood on the radiator support that has the color. Truthfully I don't know anyone who's changed the color on their title after a color change on their car/truck. I assume there is some regulation, but I don't know if AZ enforces it.

Oh my main concern is that there is something fishy with the title, or with the truck that wasn't disclosed. It could just have been a mistake from the prior owner.

According to your VIN, Land Rover says that Range Rover is Beluga Black.

Sweet thanks. Its a real beauty, about 85k miles and no rust. Seemed too good to be true so I got spooked by the weird title issue. Now all I have to worry about are real rover problems. Here is to a life time of fighting leaks and lucas.
