Re: 4 phases v. 3 phases. I think the harmonics would require more filtering than with a 3phase. The ripple is smoother but the neutral current would be higher than 3ph. The odd harmonics [especially the non-triple ones, 5th, 7th, etc] would cause a little more noise. But I am reaching back a few decades on that, so I'm likely wrong or conflating something:)

Honestly, is filtering the (3 vs 4 phase) alt’s AC to DC output voltage really that necessary for an older Land Rover’s Bosch/Lucas electrical systems? It’s not like it’s an F-35 aircraft with sensitive electronics, EOTS and radar jamming capabilities. lol
Just sayin…

Yeah, I dunno. The old 14cux, while not EMP shielded, is made out of pretty thick silicon. I'd think they are (like most integrated circuits of their day) quite durable. Modern low voltage stuff is certainly more sensitive.

re: F-3, yeah indeed! That loss in South Carolina a month ago was likely due to static/lightning damage. Pretty sensitive indeed!

I doubt that. But since I am at luxury of having Matlab at my fingertips most of the time, here's a comparison:1699031106271.png

Regarding Mean-Green.com, Paul (sales@mean-green.com) replied to my high output alternator inquiry (1995 Discovery NAS 3.9 14CUX, Magneti-Marelli 127A-100, aka: AMR3107/4247):

"We have a 200 amp replacement under part number MG1372. This would be a special order. You would have to call in to place an order for this unit. You will not find it on our website."

+1 to mean-green :)
