Are they out of business?(again)
I had contacted them over the summer and they answered my ?'s very well, even though I had bought the bumper used. I just emailed them twice with no reply and now their phone number has been disconnected. What up?

Yeah, that's the site I got their phone # and email from. Also used their "Contact Us" form and got no replies. I have their front bumper, I like it and wanted to get the steering skid. Crap!

Bad news, folks. Hi Country closed Sept. 30th, 2010. I was able to get ahold of Derrick Alda/Tipton(?), but he hasn't been with the company for 2 years. He looked into it and gave me the bad news.
It's a shame because I felt Hi Country put out a nice product. I'm quite satisfied with their D1 front bumper.

i really like that...how much was it when it was buy-able?
I can't recall, and it looks like their storefront page has finally been taken down. I got mine used in May this year, along with a winch and two IPF lights for $500.

They had a big sale last summer, i think skid, bumper w/ brushgaurd came in at $800-+ shipped. Took 3 months to get because of a move and volume of orders. I was not impressed with paint. I slid into a tree last winter and it did its job. No damage to it other than missing paint. I hit hard enough to tear motor and trans mnts apart. I also have their sliders, in hind sight they are too wide and did keep off a tree or two but I came down on a rock and leverage creased the sill some. I had plans to buy the rear bumper but it never happened.

DuraTracs are great. They're my first set of off road tires but they seem to be doing great. Perhaps a little better than the BFG AT's but I can't say for sure. Got to try them in snow Saturday and the performed superbly.

I bought their front and rear bumper with tire carrier for my D2.. Had some issues getting them ordered, but once I got it resolved I was very pleased. Wasn't cheap tho, but what is... Will post pics soon..

In other words, you have no idea if they're good or not

Sorry Dan, was my post unclear? I thought it was pretty clear that:
1) these were my first set of off-road tires
2) I hadn't tried BFG or any other tire, hence me stating these were my first set of tires
3) When I say the DuraTracs may be slightly better, than is based on on trail comparisons agains other Discoverys. That of course does not take into account things like driver skill though.
4) It's my opinion, take it for what it worth.
5) Dan, you're my hero.
