HID Lights Failing

A previous owner on my 2000 P38 had put in HID lights.

Generally I've been happy with the extra light, but lately I've gotten a few flashes. So I tried to re-align the lights, but I think the real problem is that the solenoid that operates the positioning of the bulb is failing. This means that while the rest of the lights go into low-beam mode, the one light is stuck in "high" position and that leaves one headlight with just the main light in a "high" position even though the dedicated high beam lights are off.

So.

I think I'd rather just replace them with stock lights. After calling Atlantic British, they told me I couldn't get a harness for them anymore.

So am I forced to replace the HIDs with another kit, or can I just revert back to original. Anyone had this issue? What's the most cost effective way to do this?

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I did call around to see if I could replace the original harness, but it sounds like I would have to either get a used harness, or contact specialty business probably in GB. But it's not readily available.

I'm thinking the easiest way is to just replace the parts and be done with it. I think there are enough specialty vehicle lighting shops that can help.

I think for anyone who stumbles on this thread in the future, you really have to consider that some non-OEM components are not held to the same durability standards as original equipment (at least for items like this). I just think that the failure is probably just to to wear on the moving parts in the light probably due to age and dirt ingress over time.
