What is everyones opinion on the high lift jack points on roack sliders? I've decided that it's nearly time for some sliders and have it narrowed down to either RoverTym or Trek Outfitters. I only want to buy these things one time so I want to think of everything. Trek has the jack points which seems like a good thing, but then again I've never really needed one and not had it either. The TO sliders also bolt on rather than use the rivnuts, that seems like it would be a plus. Also, if you have any other thoughts about Trek Outfitters I would like to know. (RoverTym has a great rep so not much need to elaborate). 1995 Discovery. Thanks!

Rivnuts are not that big of a pain especially if you have a good impact wrench although you can install them the old fashioned way with the supplied RTE tool. It just take a bit of elbow grease. An angle drill helps too.

TREK is okay as far as dealing with. I assume you have spoken with Tina. She is very helpful and knowledgable, although sometimes hard to get hold of.

Never had a problem getting in touch with the RTE fellows. Steve ALWAYS answers my emails no matter how trivial.

That's my experience with each of them.

Best of Luck,

I think he means the jack will be so close to the side of the vehicle that if it slips a little you may get a nice dent and scratch. But, I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time I have inserted foot into mouth.

Why? It seems like it would make lifting more secure.

because those jack attachments want to stay perpendicular to the slider all the time, but the hi lift does not.

so either the jack gets pushed or the slider tweaks.

it's not pretty.

RTE sliders bolt on with a dozen 1/2" bolts. They use Rivnuts and 8mm bolts to hold them in place. Unless you enjoy dents, get the nerf bars, they're great in the woods.
