High Idle

I have a quick question...

This weekend I did a little off roading in some very deep mud and water. Ever since then when I start my truck it idles very high, around 2000. It never did that before. Sometimes it calms down after a little bit of driving but not always.

Anyone have any ideas of how to cure the problem or where I should check and make sure everything is cleaned properly.

Thanks
Paul

(This is what i'd do if it was my car, so I'm not saying its the best way or even proper) Check and clear the cable housing that hooks to the throttle under the hood. I think the throttle cable is having a hard time returning to its "normal" idle position. Another thing that might help is putting graphite-powder into the cable housing and hope it lubs up the cable. When the engines off, try pushing the throttle all the way and quickly releasing a few times, this might loosen it up.

something that happened to me

after messin with the wire harness on my 98 d1 the idle went up to 1800rpm.if i played with the harness (tugged it)the idle would go up and down.
the harness along the front of the motor particularly the wires down the left front of block.
looking rearwards that is.between block and alternator.
there is a crank shaft sensor (i think its a sensor of some sort) behind the crank pully.very hard to see.
i cleaned the connection (plug) and all was well thereafter.
its in a dirty area.
just an idea
