I have some credit at Southwest that I need to use.

The lady and I decided that we would like to do a hiking adventure thing somewhere (spring break week, March 14th). We went to a place in Puerto Vallarta once that offered a 6 hour hike, zip line, repel sort of adventure. We couldn't do it because of timing, but something like that would hit the spot.

Someone suggested Santa Fe NM.

Any other suggestions?

Come up to Seattle. There is no adventure vacation like climbing Mount Rainier in the winter. You haven't lived until you've experienced 60mph winds and -20 ambient temps at 14,000 feet in a whiteout.

Fly to Las Vegas and get a rental and drive a couple hours northeast to southern Utah... tons of options for some great hiking locations and the month of March is one of my favorite times of year to visit the area... plenty of sunshine and no crowds.

Dunno about zip lines, but there is some PHENOMENAL hiking in Cali - if you fly into Sacramento, you'll have easy access to the Sierra Nevada, if you fly into Vegas, Death Valley is very close, and March is the time of year for that, to be sure. The Mojave Desert, Big Pine, Bishop, and the Eastern Sierra are easily accessed from there also, some truly spectacular terrain, and much of it off the beaten path. Bring some light fishing gear for native Sierra trout if you head to the mountains, but bring warm clothing.

If Desert is your deal, check out Joshua Tree and Anza-Borego, but be warned, if you do, you'll start hankering for your truck.

Do NOT go anywhere north of say, Santa Rosa on the coast that time of year unless you are incredibly well prepared and like living life like Bear Grillys pretends to on TV - the weather can and does change in minutes, and is notoriously difficult to predict. I nearly lost a friend in a very gnarly weather situation that arose out of nowhere at the Lost Coast.

Wherever you choose, good luck, and have a great trip dude!

I thought I read somewhere that Costa Rica is great for adventure vacations.

My brother just got back. At one place, they had 10 or so zip lines arranged end-to-end so it was possible to cover some real distance. Brought back some good coffee, too....

Speaking of southern Utah, why not head over to Moab around Easter? I hear it's a great time to watch rednecks and hicks in the great outdoors.
