The bolt holes on the axle bracket for the panhard rod are worn and are allowing the bolt to move about 5mm sideways which makes steering unpleasant etc.
What would be the best method to fix this?

Thanks!

You could drill out the holes and bush the bolt to snug it back up. The best solution is to cut some plugs, weld it up and redrill.

Edit: For some reason, "panhard rod" didn't sink in and I was thinking radius arm.

x2 on washers to fix the panhard.

where i'm at right now, duh...
washers like mentioned, or just cut out two tabs of metal leaving them a bit smaller thant he bracket so you have a place to lay a bead around the whole thing. Drill the hole so they're nice and snug on the bolt

Mine did this too, the holes looked like they were too big from the factory, not oval shaped. I drilled out the axle end to 9/16 and heim jointed the frame.

Great stuff, thanks for the input :bigok: :bigok:
I'll cut and drill some suitable sized washers and weld in place on the bracket. It sounds like the easiest way to cure this irritating issue.

Thanks!

Took a look at this now and there is not much space to get the welder in and welding something to the backside of the bracket, the side facing the axle...
But if you tell me it's possible I just have to give it a try :)

OK, welded a washer to the outer bracket hole and just welded up and redrilled the back hole. Then proceeded and adjusted steering box according to factory manual. Result is amazing, now steering is not a guess anymore, very precise and no clunking.
Worth looking at if you have a vague steering.
