I have seen so many D I with the black out kit. Does anyone have an LR part number for it or possible measurements that it can be replicated for less. I recall a few years back there was a posing with pictures but I can not seem to find it anywhere here.

Thanks Lots

Mathias, food for thought!

Mathias,

I went to a 'Rhino lining' spray in bed liner franchise. Charged me $105+tx. Followed the contour of the hood line. The end result is a little bit over 1/8" thick and tough as nails!! Won't scratch, dent or flake and they guaranteed it for the life of the vehicle.

Regards,

Brian

rovertym has them for 60 bucks.
And they look good, I have seen several installed. I went the flat black rattle can route myself, but it does not look quite as good as the vinyl.

Hey Brian

Glad to see some one else is insane as i am to put that on your hood. I got abso FLAMED for ita couple weeks ago. I love how it looks and it is rugged.
I also did the rocker panels from the trim line down.
Hope this gives you some alternatives if you so wish to go that road :D

Adam,

I like it! Especially the rear lower quarter panel. Mine is getting pretty scratched up from the rocks out here.

Looks good, also, any chance you can "retake" the front pic. I have been toying with pulling the front air dam off and see that you have already done so! As I am a coward I would like to see what it looks like before I go to the effort.

Thanks,

Brian

You know if you use a spray solution of soap and water you can move the vinyl around until you take the squeege to it....

Yeah thats how Vigg installs them.. also take off the windshield washer nozzles.. be careful with them though, they are pretty brittle..

Brian,

Not sure if this is the pic you want but here is the front whilst in the middle of the trim job. Just do it man , i found that doing it with a razor was easyier than dealing with melting plastic from sawzall or jig saw. Make sure its a brand new blade and it will go through it like butter.
Hope this helps :D

Man, hood blackouts really do look awesome.... only problem is I need that glare, the reflection off my hood is all I have to tell when the traffic lights turn green. :D
I got a plastic lens at lightinsight.com for $13 and it really works, it's only like 6 or 8 inches long by 1 1/2 wide, now I can even see the traffic lights that are almost over the Disco, great stuff
