Yes, Country for me too please...
Huh... They even refer to it as a Discovery 3.

Classic is a good word for it. You never know what can happen when designs and times change. Could the intro of the LR3 cause an increase in demand for the older body style? It does for me. :) There are certainly enough examples of it in automotive history. Corvettes, Mustangs, Broncos, Blazers, T-Birds and such. Look fifteen years into the future, picture the D-Web with all these enthusiasts trying to concours restore their Discos. Removing aftermarket bumpers and sliders and paying top dollar for the old factory stuff. You know, a nice clean one without the fenders trimmed. :) Only time will tell.....

Thanks, I guess I missed the part about the rest of the World calling it the Discovery 3.
An un-cut Discovery may be a rare thing 20 years from now, just as an un-cut Bronco is now... I think I will hold onto my '99 D2.

I shudder to think the cost of repairs when all these fancy computer controlled elecitrical dodads start failing.

I'm pretty happy with my 99D2 too! Maybe when it gets too tired I will trade it in on a '04 with the CDL and bigger engine.

I stopped by the LR dealer today to take my first look at the LR3. Oooooh how ugly, I even told the sales guy. He told me how great it drove and I questioned him about off roading in independant suspension and how I was concerned about the ground clearance, he had no clue. We took a look at the engine bay, and you can't see sh!t because it's covered in a big plastic panel. Oh my, I really feel Land Rover has lost there way. At least the new Range Rover looks good. The LR3 looks like a friggin' toaster. I'm embarrased. :(

Ahhh Crap does this mean I will have to pay more to insure my "classic" car?

Well, I'm happy with my 98 Antique and always have been.. I wouldn't want either of those packages though.. For the 5 grand I'd make the offroader package.. Real bumper, winch, lift, lockers, and tires. Have to call it the "real deal" package or some thing.

I think the series can be antiques and the RR (classic's well duh) and the DiscoI maybe classic. I think the ability to be classified as classic should have something to do with the amount of electrical garbage cluttering the vehicle.

Hopefully the LR3 name was so that they could continue making the old model under the Discovery name. It's probabally not true, but it looks like that with the current layout on the USA Land Rover website. We'll most likely see the Discovery disappear from there soon.

Sad.

yeah don't think they're going to continue to sell after this year. got a really good discount on a '04 disco. it was the perfect time to get my first land rover and i always wanted a disco. well i've always wanted a defender but i'll have to wait till they sell them again here. or find a used one. i test drove a LR3 and it was nice, like a car.
