How do I get a problematic roomate to move?

When getting a roomate set very high security deposits, which gives many incentive not to trash the place. It has always worked for me, and it keeps dirtbags away.

Is he on any lease documents or is it a verbal deal?

If you are accepting money from him for rent then the cops are going to be of no use. (Been there done that)

I would give him written notice (certified w/ return reciept) that you want him to move. Be sure and cite specific examples of his behavior.

Hope that he moves out, if he does not, you should move out and make sure that your name is not on the lease or you will be responsible. (I got married and moved out from lease with my room mate. We were good friends. A year later the landlord came after me for unpaid rent.)

If it is a verbal arrangement then it is harder to force him out of the situation.

When he's in the middle of a passed-out drunk binge, move him and all his furniture to the front lawn outside the apartment/house. When he wakes up, he's outside with his shit and it looks like it did in the house. He'll get the hint.

I did something similar to that way back when and the roomie called the cops and since he had paid rent I had to let him back in. Then the situation got a lot worse because the gloves were off. He made it a point to get in my craw worse than before.

you could always wait till he's drunk, duct tape his hands and feet, take an 8' length of chain and lock on end to his ankle and the other to the wheel of a cop car. With a note pinned to him reading 'evicted' and see how that works.

I find that putting a horse head in the person's bed works almost every time. If it doesn't work, mailing the body part of a loved one can have extra impact.

He is taking over our part of the lease...We are transfering our part to another 2 bedroom apt. Smaller without the carport but, its better than dealing with his bullshit. I have no idea where Im going to stash all my gear.

I had same problem. I just rode it out until my lease ended then moved the hell away. I lost my garage but I am happier now.

Make sure you get photos of all of his bullshit. They had this dog that tore up the place, BAD. Then when they got the bill they went in and tried to blame me, claiming it was my dog.

Fortunately I had photos and copies of complaints against the bad roommates. They took one look at the pics and documents and nearly dropped my entire fee and those guys had their fee increased. I could have fought the bill, but it wasn't that much and I wanted to just be done with it.

My rover is extremely pissed at me, not living in a garage or having regular repairs done but at least I am not living with belligerent druggies that waive guns all over the place. Lesser of the two evils.
