How do I mount an XM antenna to '95 Classic

I?m attempting to mount my Delphi XM radio antenna to the top of my ?new to me? ?95 Classic. Of course the magnet on the antenna is not adhering to the aluminum roof. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where or how to mount the antenna? I was thinking about using silicon to ?glue? it to the roof so that I wouldn?t damage the paint with a stronger adhesive.

Automotive double sided tape, from any autoparts store. I ran mine up the windshield trim and put it on the roof under my rack above the drivers side.

Brett,

I mounted mine with 3M tape centered on the hood adjacent to the air inlet vents. Looks good and works well. I ran the wires from the center dash through the firewall. I live in San Antonio and can show you or send pics if you like. Thanks! Jon (93 LWB)

Use the Boat Stuff! :)

My ROver is White...... and so is the Sirius Boat antennas.

I drilled a hole in the Header panel(THe one between the hood and the windsheild) and installed it like I would on a boat.
No one ever sees it.....It works well.

Gotta take that panel off to do it though....THat SUCKS!

Thanks for the info. Yes, I'd be interested in looking at your setup. You can send me a photo or I'd be happy to buy you a cup of coffee or beer and take a look at how you did it. I live near Blanco and Bitters.

I was just curious where you want the antenna. If you want it up front by the windshield this recommendation wont work. However, if you ran the wires to the back of your Rover you could stick the antenna to the upper tailgate. I have an 89 Classic that had XM and this is how I did it. It would hardly be noticeable if the upper tailgate was in good condition. As mine is a little older the black paint is somewhat oxidized and so the antenna stood out a little. The pros for this is you dont need to worry about damaging the paint you have an easy place to mount the antenna but cons you must wire all the way to the back and you may not like the location. Hope this helps.
