I sold my jk unlimited about six months ago. Great machine offroad, but that engine is so weak.... I had 4:11 gears with 33's and it was miserable everywere except the trails. I highly agree that you should rent one for a day or two before buying one. On the other hand, they do have alot of aftermarket support and the rubi is a nice package.

I like the JK, I think the minivan motor sucks, but doesnt seem like it would be so bad with a manual transmission. The inline six was to good so they had to fuck it up, kinda like Rover has done with various "improvements".

Well, I made up my mind and I am getting the Defender. I have wanted one since I saw one in '95 and almost pulled the trigger on it then. Didn't want a manual as my everyday car back then and got a Classic.

I have heard that Jeep is getting bought by International. http://www.offroaders.com/news/International-Jeep.htm

I think it's good and if they come out with a bad assed Scout, I might just get in line for that!

I am fairly certain that this was an April Fools joke played on the readers of JP magazine. If it were true it would be great for Jeep. Good luck shopping for Defenders, let us know when you find one.

hot dog id be all over that, if they offered in something like the AEV Brute, I might even sell my Rovers to buy one.

I did find one and I'm flying to San Fran to pick it up and drive it back.
