How to open the LR3 Key Fob

Searched but don't see anyone mentioning that they have successfully cracked open the factory FOB and replaced the case with the ones on eBay?

Has anyone done this successfully? If so, what is the process to break it open?

To open I used a set of snap ring pliers. Open the blade and insert pliers in the opening under the blade, it will pop open with a bit of effort.

I got this open, is there a special way to remove the battery? Do not want to break it

Are you sure the battery is bad? They charge while in the ignition switch, so if your LR3 was sitting for a while, maybe the battery just needs to charge.

Fixed it, came unsoldered from board

Quick update, I found a Land Rover branded replacement Key Fob on Ebay for $10.49 and ordered it. Put my exisitng FOB in a vice and took a serrated knife and cut through the edge opposite of the key, popped the whole Fob open with a flat blade, pulled out the control board and battery, replaced the key blade with the existing one and glued the new case back together! The whole process took less than 10 minutes and $13 with shipping to get a brand new Key Fob.

Prob not waterproof anymore though.

No not likely as I know I did not create a perfect seal around the case with the epoxy. It's probably good unless completely submerged. Very happy with the outcome however compared to the dealer option!
