Today I had to get all new pads and the rotors replaced on the D2. My mechanic had to use a little persuasion to get the rotors on. He said it's because the steelies I'm running aren't hub centric and tweaked the studs. I bought the wheels used and am not sure of the manufacturer. I'm wondering if the Wolf rims are hub centric, are they considered the NATO wheels as well? TIA.

D2G - if you keep your lug nuts at recommended torque or slightly beyond, non-hub-centric rims are not going to mangle the studs.
I ran Unique-made wheels (lug-centric) for a number of years, without any issues.

I am willing to bet the rotor was off not the hub. If you hit someting hard enough to bend the studs what do you think it would do to the rim or tire?
Furthermore all the Lucky8 steel rims are LUG centric and we have not had any issue.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I know the D2's technically don't have the (official) NATO/Wolf rims, but what about these? Are they lug centric as well?

When installing the wheels they hang from the studs. I try to lift them a little and keep them centered when screwing on the lugs, but admittedly I haven't always done this. Is this something the taper of the steel lug are supposed to do? AB also has these:

i dont see any reason you should need an alignment tool. and those steelies are basically p38 spare tire rims.
if there are any alignment problems you'll notice it right away once you hit the highway. i cant imagine a rim tweaking the studs in anything less than a major collision. I have however ran into a couple rotors not fitting properly right out of the box due to the machining of them being a little off.

That was initial thoughts of the mechanic actually. The rotors are Brembo and the issue occured on all 4 corners.

the D2 natos are hub centric, as with any other proper D2 wheel. if you have cheep steelies, they cojuld be the ones that are slightly off on the lug pattern and could make the studs tweek.
