Anyone here very knowledgeable about humidors? I am contemplating purchasing an end table type like this one: http://www.bestcigarprices.com/catalog/picture.php?id=10183

I am leary of ordering online but it seems like my only option at this point. I'd like to be able to open and close the humidor; basically get a feel for it before but there are no showrooms around me. I am outgrowing my few table top ones and the wife says no more room for another table top one.

I don't have a lot of personal knowledge (especially since I don't smoke cigars), but my parents bought a beautiful antique humidor/table (it's more like a humidor on a stand) that is mahoghany, with Spanish cedar on the inside and a marble top many years ago and have really enjoyed it.

I think they happened upon it at an antique store, so they weren't exactly searching.
You might call some antique stores or cigar vendors and look around for something like that. I know my dad has really enjoyed it AND my mom likes it b/c it's a beautiful table! ;)

Cool, thanks!

Roverlady - I was looking at some like that - sort of like a coffee table but our current house is too small to add another table like that. But I think they look neat. I am going for an end table type - it is actually going to go next to my side of the bed like a nightstand.

The one my parents have is probably waist high on me (I'm 5'4") but is only about 14-16inches square, so not too large, but tall. It's actually sort-of an end table/nightstand in one of their guest bedrooms, next to a wing-back chair. fwiw...

Have fun and good luck!

Whoa. Thats pretty fancy. From what I can see, that would probably make a very poor humidor because it would probably get knocked open/raided. My humidor and all of my buddies humidors all have locks on them, FWIW.

I cannot tell from the construction, but it looks like the entire box is climate controlled which means the only time you can open it is when you are grabbing a smoke. The best thing is to keep humidors closed for the most part.

That is just an example of the type I am considering. I'm not worried about locking it. Yup, I keep all my table top humidors closed unless I'm grabbing a smoke so I'm not too concerned if the entire box is climate controlled or individual compartments climate controlled.

Check out www.cheaphumidors.com

great guys, and great to deal with.

Also, check out the Cigar Pass Forums, and Club Stogie. Both have excellent info on Huni's.

Above all though, make sure whatever you get is lined with REAL Spanish Cedar.
