I would think there's some interest.

I can't see it bringing Defender money. Maybe $10k if it's clean, $5k if it's not-so-clean, and no more than an equivalent NAS D1 if it's a dog.

I wouldn't pay premium money just to get a ragged-out D1 with a diesel.

So, I think that they're essentially the same value as a NAS truck in equivalent condition.

Edit: A cherry, rust-free three door truck from Spain or Italy would get my heart pumping........

Concur, they will likely never close w/D or even RRC $, but they could still be worthwhile depending on desired profit margin.

As noted, a 3 door TDI would likely be the 'most' desireable from many's perspective. I think in time I'd be keener on a 5 door 300 vice 3 door 200, but for the historic value of the initial Disco.

I don't know that I'd agree with that. If you told me five years ago that Range Rover Classics would be bringing big money I wouldn't have believed you.

They aren't bringing big money. A few are selling for outrageous prices because of the odd mega rich person who pays loads for something that has been restored. Most I see on craigslist are just like DIs. Sitting at 1500-4000. Not big money.

Thanks for the advice, I happen to know of a RHD part restored RRC with a factory 2.5D in it, not a 200tdi. the VM engine I believe, the chap wants £7k for it GBP, I told him i was over priced.

Our Disco is a 5 door, so I will keep that as its a good tool, I will hunt around for a 3 door

Would there be any interest in the commercial body?

I always thought the 2 dr RRC's were really cool. But I'm too cheap to pay for one, yet alone import it.

What about going the other direction? Would a clean, rust free RRC body and chassis (with no drivetrain) be worth any money to send to the UK for someone that has a rust bucket they'd like to put all of their drivetrain and rhd specific interior in?
