I know it isnt a rover, but what do you guys think of the lift I did on my runner?

Running adjustable coilovers up front, which are bilstein 5100's and eibach 650lb rate springs, and in the rear I am running OME heavy duty springs and bilstein 5125's.

You should replace that front end with a solid axle. A guy I went to school with had a 4runner like that and broke a front axle every time we went out and he had 285/75s and a similar lift of some sort of tundra springs up front. I dig the tractor beam set-up in place of winch. ;)

Did you used to have a rover or have a rover also? I thought I wouldn't mind a 4runner, but after driving a friends, I hate the seat position compared to the Discovery.

That IFS front is not that weak. It just depends on how he's using the truck. That little Yota will smoke a DI on back roads and higher speeds, but like any IFS its weak point is how they drag over obstacles and the added moving parts. Invision pressing down on the front of the truck and see how the suspension compresses dropping the lowest point of the front.

Those front half shafts are about the same size a full size H1. Not too shabby for a light weight truck.

I too hate the seating position. It's like you're sitting on the ground with your legs stretched out.

Damn good trucks though. I like the 4 cylinder over that V6 though.

it sure looks a lot more balanced now. i remember seeing your truck a few months or so ago on here. said you wheel with rover folks regularly, right?

i like that bumper alot. it's certainly more aesthetically pleasing than those big bulbuous arb copies running around everywhere for the newish yotas and the like.

SAS is on the list of things to do down the road (gotta keep it reliable until I am outta college), probabley use a dana 44 or toy axle upfront. I am going to be running 255/85/16s and I have manual hubs waiting to go on it.

I used to drive a rrc, but traded it in when it started going downhill. I want to get a series II-III out of college and build it up. I liked the seating position of the old rover, and I also like it of the runner. The only pluses of the runner are 5speed and 20+mpg, but I miss the old rrc.

I have to agree with you its like sitting on the floor, but me being taller it works out.

I'm 6-3 and I still hate the seating position in the 4Runners. They are fun little trucks, but I like sitting upright. The view in the DI is better.

That 4 cylinder motor is hard to beat. We've had the cylinders in one full of water numerous times and eventually thought we'd killed it. After blowing out the cylinders and running for an hour it came back 100%.

Hard to go wrong with a Toyota product.
