I smell Gas...

I just bought an '02 4.6 and I smell gas after stopping and getting out of the truck.

Leaky fuel pump maybe? Anyone have any ideas on this, or prior experience?

I can't seem to see any visual signs of leakage. It is more prominant on the passenger side which is the fuel door side.

can you locate the smell? front or back? if you think its that cap, that's an easy fix. Just put a new one on there.

Do you know how to visually follow the evap lines/overflow canister/fuel lines to the rail/injectors?

it's comming from the back; passenger side, which is the filler side of the truck.
I'm sure i could follow the lines back. I haven't smelled gas now for 3 days. It was really strong for a couple days right after we bought the truck. Maybe it sat for a while before we bought it and fumes had built up or something?
I don't see any visual fuel leaks or anything.

I guess now it's a wait and see game...

Of course you smell gas, the damn thing runs on gas, whadda ya expect it to smell like? Coal?

Runs on gas? Man I've been trying to figure out why I have to fill up with gas so often...

Thanks! That was going to be my next post... why does my gas guage go down when I drive the truck?...
