I was in your shoes after I owned a POS 97 D1 I sold it had a Ford Exploder and saw my baby I now drive a 98 and have not looked back since. The 98 has been a dream to own of course for leaking power steering hoses that is about it.
Bite the bullet get another one.

rovers are like animals. they do better if you have more than one. they keep each other company, lend parts in emergencies, are drinking buddies, more confident about picking on jeeps or other rovers, etc. but then again there is always the "favorite" and that can cause some tension.
i drive my white one 100% of the time right now, but will be switching to one of the others shortly. all about keeping THEM happy.
but we are one big happy family. i can feel the love right now.

You are so right Garrett! Now that we have two dogs, they are much happier. And now that we have two Rovers (especially with the same engine/chassis, etc) life has been much easier! Perhaps Rovers are pack animals!

Good luck Andy, I'm sure we will see you around. Hope you get another Rover that you trust. FWIW, my 95 has been pretty bomb-proof.

Andy, you have to stick around Dweb. After all, we all want to know where you end up when you come to the D.C area! Good luck and don't be a stranger.

KJ :)

I don't want to imply all 95 d1's are crap, mine was pain in the ass. But that can be true of any vehicle. Sorry if anyone got the impression I was blasting all rovers. Only my D1 was what I refering to.

I suppose a herd of LR's might be the way to go. Parts cars and couple of runners might be the way to go.

How many LR's will they allow you to have in your yard around the DC area? :D

Years ago, like over a dozen, I coined the phrase "Nigel's Disease" after a well-documented spate of Rover ailments. One chap would mention that his Rover had thus-and-so problem, and that would ripple through the Internet Rover community with alarming speed.

Well, I've just encountered my first inter-species example of Nigel's Disease. The Disco's instrument lights have failed (keeps popping the fuse) and I have yet to find the cause, even with every bulb in the circuit removed, every connector cleaned, and no signs of chafe on any of the wires.

Now the instrument lights on my '72 88 have failed. Be afraid. Be very afraid....

Funny you mention that. That is exactly what I did. It has been my daily driver since June, and has not broken down in that whole time. BOTH of my Rovers had to be worked onat least once a month.

I still haven't sold my Classic, but am afraid to drive it because I don't want anything else to go wrong with it in case someone wants to test drive it.

I love my Scout. I will own another Rover some day, though.

International engines have a high nickel content so will go 300K+ miles and then all you need will be rings, bearings and seals. The drive train is basically Internationals light line targeted at commercial. They even leak like a Rover. I had 3 and now I'm down to one Scout. I also love 99 and older Disco/Defenders/RRC's. My 98 Discovery, a DD, has been reliable.

If I had to choose between a $25K Defender and a $5K Scout it would be the Scout. At $5K you can get a real nice Scout with $20K left over for lot's of toys.

OK, you need the "gay is ok" workshop. Call me if you need the current meeting schedule.

Alright, what the heck is going on here??? Are we dying, halucinating, or what? First Alan reappears, now Blue. I'm hoping it's halucination rather than moving toward the White Light...

Hey Blue, so let me know if your interested in selling the short bus. Since this thread I've gone into LR withdrawl. I agree w/ Andrew, you need to change your sig to JEB 08.

LOL....just been busy. Daughter is 5 now, new girlfriend (well, 11 months now & counting), company got bought out 10 months ago, blah blah blah.

Moby the Great White Whale of a 1996 Disco is breathing fire again. Put the repaired radiator in, fixed the oilpan issue, new brake caliper, fender, hood, lights, etc. Dropped in a little can of gas treatment, hooked the jumpers up to the bimmer and he fired right up. LOL....2 year old gas no problem! Now I just have to make him pretty and cheat my way through emissions inspection. Then get a steel front bumper made to fit the winch.

Blue-are you and Rob neighbors now?

If so, monitor Rob around your 5 year-old's toys. Due to his so-called miniature-fetish he will probably steal all her Barbie accessories. He will probably also draw the naughty parts on the Barbies as well.

Come on Greg, everyone knows they are more than just "neighbors". Like Blue said Rob has been there for "well, 11 months now & counting". :D
