You've all got it wrong... It's a binding leash. Much like those found on snowboards and telemark skis. Should your rover come out of its bindings (drop an axle), that little steel cable will hold it to the body till your rover can step back into its binding.

This is a Band-Aid that some engineer came up with to fix his/her original screw-up. When the rest of us do it, it's called a fuck-up. When engineers do it, it's called an update. There's 60+ pounds worth of update hanging up under the rear bumper of an LR3.

Thank God for engineers. If they didn't constantly screw up, I wouldn't have the fun job I have.
