have had a good deal of problems with an irradic idle - sticking at over 2000 or fluctuating all over the place never wanting to come down to a norm of 750. cleaned the stepper motor (IAC) a couple of times which seemed to help the hesitation and lunging problems, but not the idle. decided to replace the stepper motor. a FRIEND told me that LR wanted $180. for a new one but that i could go to an auto parts store, ask for a '95 chevy truck IAC(for '95 disco) for $30. IT WORKS! great to have the rig running properly. there are a lot of posts w/ similar complaints, i hope this helps someone else.

Different stepper motor

I believe 96+ Disco's use a different stepper motor than the older models that can be switched with the Chevy one. I don't think there has been an aftermarket one proven to work with the 4.0 Disco engine. :( Try cleaning yours first Alex and see if that helps.
