Im trying to start my 1969 2a . I had converted to the pertronics , but feel it might not be working . The engine has just been rebuilt . Im going to install the points again .My question is , what side does the wire from the points go on the coil ? + or - side . They dont show it in the book .

+ from battery through resistor to + coil.

- coil to points (which ground out when touching)

condenser body grounded and wire to - coil wire at points.

Well, that's how it was hooked up on my old camaro, but it should be the same.

The Pertronics stuff seems to work ok if you use ther coil. I have had some in for years without problems and others we could not get to stay running for more than a week.

I have about 125 k on my Crane and it is going strong.

Convert your points-type distributor to an electronic ignition with these Crane XR700 ignition modules.

Crane Cams 700-0300 - Crane XR700 Points-To-Electronic Ignition Conversion Kits

They offer increased timing accuracy and replace many Bosch, Lucas, Hitachi, and ND units. They feature an all-new status LED light for easy diagnostics, and are fully potted for protection from dirt, moisture, and vibration.
They're also highly reliable and precise with their optical trigger design, and have a more powerful signal than points-type distributors.

When the engine got rebuilt, did the distributor drive gear adapter, AKA the steel 'doughnut', get re-installed? If not, the engine is likely to be 180 degrees out of time.
