IM incomplete - any tricks up the sleeve?

I've been driving my 96 D1 (pre-Adv EVAP) for about 200 miles now, yet the catalyst monitoring and EVAP monitoring are still showing as incomplete. I think I went as far as nearly exactly replicate the drive cycle, besides and beyond normal driving. The engine purrs like a kitten.
I cannot take it to the smog check until they complete (they will fail me if I show up), and given with my tags having expired last August, I'd rather shorten this process.

Any tips?

I think we own the same truck. I just went through this headache after doing headgaskets at about the same mileage.

I blamed the cold weather so I pulled the fan for a week and watched the temp gauge VERY close. It worked for me, but I could never get the cat monitor to state ready and you are allowed 1 non ready for that year in my county.

Hmmm.... I need to see if I'm allowed any non-ready - but I seriously doubt that.
Remarkably, my daily commute is pretty close to the drive cycle...

Obviously I'm in IL and our rules are probably different, but our emissions allows two incomplete I believe.

I know that with two they will fail me.
I guess I'll try to see the O2 sensors' behavior live; but that doesn't solve the EVAP problem. The can/valve have been replaced a few years ago.

-1: the wire between the main engine compartment fuse panel (from 100A fuse from alternator) and the + of the battery was ever so slightly corroded. The voltage across the battery terminals was about 13.4-13.6V with the engine running; on the way home last night I noticed the instrument panel illumination vary ever so slightly at idle.
Pulled the wire, resoldered both ends. 14.1V on the battery at idle, the evap monitoring self-test completed in 10 minutes of driving in the neighborhood. Waiting for the darkness to fall to proceed with highway portion in hopes to get the catalyst self-test to pass.

I have installed a new cat on my 96 D1 about 3 yrs ago and I don't think my cat monitor has ever reset. It doesn't mater in MO because we can have 2 incomplete and it will still pass for a 96. I wish I knew that before i installed the new cat :banghead:
Why would a 96 have a evap monitor

Well... it does. And, unlike catalyst, the evap finally caught on. I'll see what comes out - but the alternator decided to misbehave. Will try to shoot the brushes with contact cleaner tomorrow, but ... I may take my cores to the rebuilder. After all these threads about mondo alternators, I'd love to see a stock 120A P38A unit to last more than 3 years.
