I need to change my front main seal. The crankshaft pulley bolt is torqued at 200 ft. lbs. and I'm looking for an excuse to get a new impact wrench.
My Husky wrench is rated at 300 ft. lbs., but that's a load of horseshit because it can't even break lug nuts.
So, is an impact wrench the right tool for the job? (I know it can be done with a big breaker bar and assistance from the starter motor, but as I said, I'm rationalizing here)
Can an impact also be used to put the bolt back on to torque spec?
I'd like to stay in the $250 - $300 range
