Wondering if maybe someone on here may have a little info or at least a point in the right direction.

The company I work for is a manufacturer of packaging machinery and we have a need to be able to see and hear (in real time) what our technicians are experiencing when servicing our equipment. In addition, the technician would need to be able to hear instructions from us in real time.

We need the camera to show enough detail that we would be able to actually see the condition of parts, calibration points, like scale (ruler) settings, timing marks etc.

We would like the equipment worn by the technician to be as unobtrusive as possible, as they may be climbing around (on top of, or under) the machinery. Something wireless would be preferred for the connection from the tech to the rest of the system (laptop?). If possible/practical, a wireless connection from the earphones, microphone, and camera, would be desirable, but not necessary (we don?t want this to be a roadblock). Again; we don?t want the equipment to inhibit the mobility of the technician (or make them feel like a geek :D ).

I talked to a guy from this site: http://www.jonescam.tv/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=31 a while back, and I was left with the impression that they would be able to provide us with the connection (un-tethered) from the technician to a laptop. From there, we could potentially use something as simple as a high speed internet connection from the customer?s network to our network using Microsoft Netmeeting, Webex or something similar.

Dude sounded real interested at the time, but now won?t even return my calls?dunno?

Anyone have any recommendations for alternate equipment or software that could provide a better solution?

Thanks for the link. I will read more tonight when I get home, but I didn't see any sort of camera that is small enough to actually be worn while working on a machine.

Peace

Also look into cell datacards and Netmotion to keep the laptop connected to your network. Then you can use inhouse tools (netmeeting conf server or similar).
